laced with love and sun
attempt to capture those moments where the song playing, the people you're with, and the sunshine come together to fill me up and appreciate love.
this means a lot to me because behind josh is the blind school...where the best grass grows in the summer and spring..and to my side is almeda park...my favorite park. it has a lil train you can ride around the park. and big cottonwood trees. in fall, the trees rain floating cotton all over the town. ants don't bite me in this park. plus, josh is a best friend to me and very important in helping me become who i am today. song by ben kweller.
christmas day driving to the cornfields where my aunt and uncle live outside of peoria, il. my brother josh and my niece madi and a red balloon and a song by the national. this turned out to be one of the few peaceful moments of the road trip from new mexico.
madi and i were crammed in the very back seat. she got the pirate hat from my brother. one of eight presents. why that many? well i'll tell the story. madi screams a lot for effect when my brother or dad get on her nerves...like tickling and stuff. my brother told her that every time she didn't scream when he bothered her that he'd give her a present. so madi got smart and would ask him to like..pull her hair..and she would take it w/out screaming to add another present. it was silly.

sunrising
boys leaving to tuscon
on a great eli adventure.
hold the curly fries for now
says johnny
with a wave goodbye
and a brian at his side.
the house falls into sleep
as the backyard
falls into love
with nighttime.
patches and the dasies
all put on their dancin' shoes.
animal collective seduces the trees
into shaking their roots to the
sporadic beats, dusty piano keys
and beastly screams.
the ground shakes shane awake.
the sleeping boy
whose lost happiness
is now found
smiles
a smile quite genuine.
in measure
its joy matches the
great wall of china's length.
like a tasty burrito are the three
wrapped up on a sooty trampoline.
the spice provided by moses.
bursting out
of the tortilla
shane bounces us
into the milky way.
covered in star dust
freckled with constellations
we fall back into gravity's demand
in all giddiness
like a boy on xmas morning
shane ploughs through blankets
over intertwined legs
dizzy tummies
and sleepy eyes.
his soul aroused by songs
now draws faint sunbeams onto
squinchy faces.
a jealous moon hangs on
not ready to stop dancing.
the sky
a dancefloor unto the moon
scares our stars away.
we breathe the universe.
silence
sometimes ur quiet and
sometimes i'm quiet
sometimes i'm not talkative
and sometimes ur not talkative
he could be as shallow as
cat claw creek. i like alliteration. i am jalapeno justina. why ever compete?
i just got goosebumps. i love, love, love that i get goosebumps when i feel the presence of Jesus
my height jumped from 5'4 to 5'6 within the span of 1 minute. i thought my perspective changed the truth...a whole two inches of truth...a big deal. i know now the truth was just clouded by my perspective. wild how clouds get in the way like that. yea yea yea, o yea. "flick a cluster of stars on your way up," said her pops, "and name their constellation after me."she thought this funny. his stars were tiny, moveable specks and hers were grand balls of fire. he didn't think he'd make it. she believed he'd be there soon. the stars kept her warm promising not to burn. a look back down while in view she sees pops on his knees shivering from the cold she no longer feels. when it was time she blew those clouds shaped like stubborn feelings out of his sky. he looked up and saw Truth.
favorite song and lyrics
Significance "The song lyrics, originally written in Portuguese, do not tell a story, but rather present a series of images that form a collage; nearly every line starts with "É..." ("It's..."). The inspiration for "Águas de Março" comes from Rio de Janeiro's most rainy month. March is typically marked by sudden storms with heavy rains and strong winds that cause flooding in many places around the city. The lyrics and the music have a constant downward progression much like the water torrent from those rains flowing in the gutters, which typically would carry sticks, stones, bits of glass, and almost everything and anything. The orchestration creates the illusion of the constant descending of notes much like Shepard tones All these details swirling around the central metaphor of "the waters of March" can give the impression of the passing of daily life and its continual, inevitable progression towards death, just as the rains of March mark the end of summer and the beginning of the colder season in the southern hemisphere. However, Jobim's English lyrics also speak of the water being "the promise of life / ... the joy in your heart," which allows for other, more life-affirming interpretations.."
Águas de Março É pau, é pedra,
é o fim do caminho
É um resto de toco,
é um pouco sozinho É um caco de vidro,
é a vida, é o sol
É a noite, é a morte,
É a viga, é o vão,
festa da cumeeira É a chuva chovendo,
é conversa ribeira
Das águas de março,
é o fim da canseira É o pé, é o chão,
é a marcha estradeira
Passarinho na mão,
pedra de atiradeira É uma ave no céu,
é uma ave no chão
É um regato, é uma fonte,
é um pedaço de pão É o fundo do poço,
é o fim do caminho
No rosto o desgosto,
é um pouco sozinho É um estrepe, é um prego,
é uma conta, é um conto
É uma ponta, é um ponto,
é um pingo pingando É um peixe, é um gesto,
é uma prata brilhando
É a luz da manhã,
é o tijolo chegando É a lenha, é o dia,
no teu coração
Waters of March by Elis REgina
and Tom Jobim
A stick, a stone,
It's the end of the road,
It's the rest of a stump,
It's a little alone It's a sliver of glass,
It is life, it's the sun,
It is night, it is death,
It's a trap, it's a gun The oak when it blooms,
A fox in the brush,
A knot in the wood,
The song of a thrush The wood of the wind,
A cliff, a fall,
A scratch, a lump,
It is nothing at all It's the wind blowing free,
It's the end of the slope,
It's a beam, it's a void,
It's a hunch, it's a hope And the river bank talks
of the waters of March,
It's the end of the strain,
The joy in your heart The foot, the ground,
The flesh and the bone,
The beat of the road,
A slingshot's stone A fish, a flash,
A silvery glow,
A fight, a bet,
The range of a bow The bed of the well,
The end of the line,
The dismay in the face,
It's a loss, it's a find A spear, a spike,
A point, a nail,
A drip, a drop,
The end of the tale A truckload of bricks
in the soft morning light,
The shot of a gun
in the dead of the night A mile, a must,
A thrust, a bump,
It's a girl, it's a rhyme,
It's a cold, it's the mumps The plan of the house,
The body in bed,
And the car that got stuck,
It's the mud, it's the mud Afloat, adrift,
A flight, a wing,
A hawk, a quail,
The promise of spring And the riverbank talks
of the waters of March,
It's the promise of life
It's the joy in your heart A stick, a stone,
It's the end of the road
It's the rest of a stump,
It's a little alone A snake, a stick,
It is John, it is Joe,
It's a thorn in your hand
and a cut in your toe A point, a grain,
A bee, a bite,
A blink, a buzzard,
A sudden stroke of night A pin, a needle,
A sting, a pain,
A snail, a riddle,
A wasp, a stain A pass in the mountains,
A horse and a mule,
In the distance the shelves
rode three shadows of blue And the riverbank talks
of the waters of March,
It's the promise of life
in your heart, in your heart A stick, a stone,
The end of the road,
The rest of a stump,
A lonesome road A sliver of glass,
A life, the sun,
A knife, a death,
The end of the run And the riverbank talks
of the waters of March,
It's the end of all strain,
It's the joy in your heart.
is there such a thing as an unintentional cause?
madi's immune system has worse levels than mine when mine was last tested. poor kid is sick all but 1 week out of the month pretty much. i love her with my entire life. my favorite moments since her birth are when i rock her to sleep. the moment right before i fall asleep but right after she is out like a baaaaaaaaby that she is...that's when my heart is as big as the sun and my love feels as endless as the beams that radiate from it. she has here moments but so do i.
i sat on the porch in the cold and watched the fog.
working through the cobwebs one at a time.
all i found was this overcast warmth in the back yard AND
someone who desires A sweet affection and contagious smiles as a cure for their loneliness.
so we should be even.
no thank you
